Upgrading your iBUYPOWER gaming PC’s storage and RAM can enhance its performance and storage capacity. This guide is an overview of how to upgrade these components. For more specialized support, visit our Support Page.

Upgrading Storage

Step 1: Determine Storage Options

  • Check Available Slots: Identify the available slots for additional storage. For example, if your PC has one M.2 slot already in use, you may need to install a 2.5" SSD behind the motherboard.
  • Verify Compatibility: Ensure the new storage device is compatible with your system.

Step 2: Install the New Storage Device

  • Prepare the SSD: Ensure you have a small M.2 screw or SATA cables depending on the drive type.
  • Install the SSD: Follow the motherboard’s design—some use latches.
  • Secure the SSD: Make sure it’s properly installed.

Step 3: Recognize the New Storage

  • Boot the System: Start your PC.
  • Initialize the SSD in Disk Management: If it's not showing up, right-click Start → Disk Management → Initialize Disk → choose MBR or GPT → Create a new volume and assign a drive letter.

Upgrading RAM

Step 1: Determine RAM Compatibility

  • Check Current Configuration: Identify your current RAM specs and try to match them.
  • Verify Maximum Capacity: Check your motherboard’s limits (e.g., 256GB DDR5).

Step 2: Install the New RAM

  • Access the RAM Slots: Open your case. You might need to remove the GPU.
  • Install the RAM: Push the RAM into the slots firmly.

Step 3: Enable XMP for Higher Speeds

  • Access BIOS: Restart your PC and enter the BIOS.
  • Enable XMP: Activate it if your RAM supports faster speeds.

Step 4: Verify Installation

  • Boot the System and confirm the RAM is recognized.
