Located at the heart of UCI’s campus and powered by 72 premium iBUYPOWER gaming desktops, the Esports Arena is open to all - students, staff, faculty, alumni and guests. Inside, people can play popular titles on iBUYPOWER gaming PCs, as well as at the Console & Community Corner. UCI’s esports teams practice here and develop their team chemistry and individual skills to compete at the highest levels of collegiate competition.

The University of California-Irvine is at the forefront of game-related education and research. UCI’s Computer Game Science major has already funded 12 research projects related to video games and hosted its first academic symposium about gaming and esports in 2017. Recently, it published a neuroscience study involving Minecraft, demonstrating that 3D immersive games can improve memory and spatial awareness.
