We spoke with Mindy, a recent customer who purchased her PC primarily for gaming. Her history with esports and competitive gaming made her a perfect candidate for a top-of-the-line Intel 11th Gen system. Check out her interview below!
HEY MINDY, THANKS FOR CHATTING WITH US! DO YOU MIND DOING A QUICK INTRO OF YOURSELF?
My name is Mindy and I’m a Computer Game Science major at UCI. I grew up watching my brother play video games, and I found myself getting involved in esports during my high school years.
NICE! ANY HIGHLIGHTS YOU’D LIKE TO MENTION?
The coolest thing I’ve done is that I founded the first competitive all-female League of Legends team on a high school level. One of the high school counselors loved the idea, so he helped make it a reality by convincing the principal. While also being a part of the team, I was in charge of logistics like signing up for tournaments and talking for interviews. I was given this responsibility because I’ve had experience with esports already. I was a community developer and tournament administrator for the student-led non-profit Youth Esports of America, also known as the “Home of High School Esports”.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO GAMING/ESPORTS?
I grew up playing the standard DS games like Pokemon and Cooking Mama, but I spent a lot of time watching my brother play PC games. Naturally, I wanted to follow suit so I started playing League of Legends back in mid-season 4 and it was the only game I played for a while! One of my biggest joys is seeing myself improve in games, so I’m currently obsessed with Valorant. Valorant was my first shooter (let alone a tactical shooter), so I was as bad as it gets. Now, I can proudly say I’m diamond and still improving! I haven’t played many single-player games because a big part of why I enjoy gaming so much is because it gives me an excuse to spend time with friends. Ironically, if someone asked me what my favorite game was, I’d have to say Breath of the Wild. The visuals, the storyline, the soundtrack, the puzzles, and the open-world aspect all bring it to the top of my list.
WHAT WERE YOU LOOKING FOR IN YOUR NEW COMPUTER?
When I have time, I want to stream more often and play more intensive games. I tried to stream with a Vtuber model recently and would love to try to stream more with advanced tracking technology! So I was looking for a system that can handle both for long periods of time without causing any sort of delays or issues to my stream. As for the aesthetic and look of the system, overall I wanted a few RGB components but I didn’t want the RGB to overpower and take away from the system itself so I chose to have only the RAM sticks with RGB and AIO.
IS THERE A COMPONENT YOU WERE SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR WHEN CHOOSING YOUR PC?
Intel has been such a prevalent brand throughout my life, and I wanted to try out the latest and greatest 11th Gen CPU. I want to be able to stream and play at the same time without sacrificing quality on all fronts so I chose a 3080 with an 11th Gen CPU to meet my needs. The 11th Gen CPU’s performance is 2nd to none in my book.
Thanks for chatting with us, Mindy! We hope you have lots of fun with your new system.
