Hi All:

I ordered my system on Friday, 10-23, credit card was OKd today, 10-26.  I called CS , got through rapidly, and "Pauline" agreed to add foam packing to my order and charge it to my card.  I feel this is wise with a delicate package shipped from CA to FL.

So far, so good, I have every hope that mine will be a good outcome.  I'll add to this, as events unfold.

Update 10-29-09

Last online order status shows updated foam ordered 10-26.  I was concerned that something might be wrong, and called CS to check.  After about a 5 minute wait, I got through, and expressed my concern.  The CS guy checked, and said that the unit was in production and on schedule.  I thanked him and we wished one another a good day.

Again, so far so good!  Got my fingers crossed!

Latest flash - today (10-30-09) I finally got an e mail informing me that my materials have been gathered, and the computer will go into production.  Whew, seemed like a long time, BUT it is happening.  YEAH!!!

Latest update 11-3-09.  There was apparently a flurry of activity on my computer, as I received e mail notices that it had passed the QC phase, as well as the burn in, and entered the shipping phase.  "Your computer will ship soon" is nice to see.

I will now await the actual shipping notice, and, if I'm lucky a tracking number, so I will have some idea when it should arrive.  Again, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it arrives functional.  I do plan to examine the inside for loose connections before attempting to power it up, based on what I have read in these forums.

Mostly Good News, and a bit of bad.

GOOD - My computer arrived today, one day earlier than Fedex expected.  It appeared in reasonable shape, though there was an unnerving rattle as I moved it.

BAD

1.  Though I upgraded to foam packing inside the computer, acknowledged by an e mail, there was NONE.  I'll call and ask for a refund.

2.  The rattle turned out to be the thumb screw for the graphics card, which was loose.  I re-seated the card, and replaced t
he thumb screw.

3.  The LED monitor is dark - may not be plugged in

4.  The 120mm fan at the case top does not revolve.

BUT IT BOOTS - YEA!!!!!

So I will call CS about a refund for the non-existent foam, and TS about the fan and LED monitor, if I cannot find where to plug them in.

Must run now - going to a photography opening.

Please feel free to comment, all you watchers!

I'll update after calling the appropriate powers at IBP.  All in all, I'm pleased, after all - IT ARRIVED, AND BOOTED!!!

Glad you got the computer 1 day earlier than FedEx predicted! Although it does worry me hearing how you didn't get the advanced packing. I've seen a few posts where people ordered services and didn't get them. Makes me question my purchase. Hopefully mine will be ok. I hope you're able to get the fan and meter going. Keep us posted.

Hi Sphyrna:

Thanks for posting.  Yes, I have also seen people order services that were not received, but at least my machine seems functional, and that is a relief!

I will indeed keep you posted about my post - delivery experience, very important at this point.  I'll call tomorrow.

Who knows, your machine may be PERFECT!    Having this forum is very helpful.

I did already have 1 issue. I checked my order status yesterday and it was updated that my credit card was declined. I thought this was odd since I received an automated call from my credit cards 2 nights before to verify the purchase. I called the credit card company and they informed me they requested iBP contact them to verify the purchase. So they were waiting for iBP to call them but they didn't, so the credit card company declined it. At least I was able to get it straightened out and not long after calling iBP back telling them to resubmit the charge my status was updated that the credit card was approved.

Hi Everyone:

I fear that my contacts with IPB Customer Service AND Tech Support were both very dismaying, to say the least.

CS - Would not take my word for it that there was no foam packing that was ordered and paid for - wants a picture of the vented panel to "begin the investigation".. Apparently there is something they put on the panel to indicate that the foam was placed inside, but this is MOST annoying, to say the least.  Steve DID, however, point me to the Windows 7 activation number on the other side panel.

TS - In Tech support, he kept repeating that I had to go inside the computer and check the fan and meter connections.  He refused to listen to my saying that I WAS inside the computer, both side panels off, and one side of the meter is jammed, I cannot get it out to easily check the connections.  Visually, it looks like everything stuffed back there IS plugged in.  He was not able to tell me what to look for, and was MOST eager to get me off that phone.

I am usually quite comfortable working with hardware, but the Cooler Master HAF 22 case has a wretched manual, and I am really stymied now.  I may have to take it to my local computer store and see if THEY can get the meter out, but that seems an unfortunate thing to need to do.

ARRRGGHHH... MOST Frustrating.  Now I see what people have been talking about.

LATEST sad chapter - I tried to e mail the requested side panel image (as well as the order status listing the foam addition) - IT BOUNCED!!!  I have seen others report this.

I'll e mail and call to verify the e mail address, but this is really frustrating and annoying.  I tried to deal in a calm and straightforward way with IBP, but this is a VERY poor reward for that.

Good luck Jack. Hope you get it all worked out. I think iBP is lucky that many people that buy their computers are tech savy. I can't imagine my mom ordering a computer from them and once she gets it having to open it up and fiddle with stuff. Maybe I'll record a video of the unboxing just in case mine doesn't have the packing. That way I can send it to them to prove it.

Turns out that the supplied e mail address was wrong.  It took a lot of waiting and a callback to get a correct one.

There is a tangle of wires coming from the back of the Xion thermal display, at least 3 are not connected.  I downloaded the manual and will attempt to fix it.  The display is dark, and my cooling fans are not working.

IBP has cheap hardware, but very poor quality control, and brusque, rude service if anything is wrong.  I had high hopes, but they were dashed.  You are ON YOUR OWN if anything goes wrong.  Sad, but true.

Now the computer is completely dead - no power at all, no light on MOBO.  The wiring is a real mess, I have never seen a computer thrown together like this.

I plan to request an RMA for return and a refund.  I'm on the line with my credit card company now - will put my purchase on a "disputed" basis.

A sad ending to a hopeful beginning, I anticipate a real struggle with IBP.

Sorry about your luck Jack. Are you sure the 3 wires coming off the thermal display are supposed to be connected? Perhaps they're temperature probes? But I guess it doesn't matter if it won't boot at all now. Good luck getting everything squared away with iBP.

Thanks much, Sphyrna, an encouraging word is highly welcome.  I have my loins girded for the refund struggle to come.  I hope that my review on Reseller Ratings, and the Better Business Bureau will aid me, we shall see.

11-9-09

A welcome development - "Steve" of Customer Service called and offered to take back my computer for a complete refund.  He issued an RMA and arranged for a FedEx pickup.  I felt that was most fair, and am hopeful for a good resolution.  I'll keep everyone posted.

Glad to hear you're getting a full refund. Not quite the result you wanted, I'm sure you'd rather have a working new computer. But at least you're able to get a full refund. Are they paying for return shipping?

Hi Sphyrna:

Yes, as an exception to their usual policy, Steve agreed to refund the shipping as well, for which I am grateful.

You are right, I would have MUCH preferred a new, working computer!  But this is a satisfactory resolution to the realistic circumstances of this transaction.
