Hey, I'm looking for a fun to play FPS. I want something not too expensive. I am debating whether to get UT3 or not. thanks in advance

All UT3 did was make me want to play UT2k4. If you want a good multiplayer fps then check out Team Fortress 2. I think it's only $20 but it goes on sale for half that on a regular basis on Steam.

If you want a good and affordable single player fps then get the orange box...Half Life 2 and Portal are both great. Plus it includes TF2.

The Orange Box runs $30 on Steam.

Yeah TF2 is a blast.

I'd recommend CoD4, Battlefield 2(I haven't played BF2142 or the such to recommend it).

A free FPS is America's Army 2 which used to be a blast but they've been changing the game through updates. It's still not bad, but not as good as it used to be. And it's FREE.

Another Free FPS is America's Army 3 which was just released today. I haven't played it yet, but am downloading it now.

If you like some RPG thrown in with your FPS, check out Fallout 3 btw. It's not multiplayer though.

I've always been partial to Combat Arms. Its free(ish), graphics are good, great selection of guns, nice maps, and as of a few months ago, relatively free of hackers.

I actually do play combat arms it is fun but I get tired of the kind of old-fashioned 3d, as compared to say... cod 4 or other purchaseable games

Understandable, but for the price it can't be beat. Personally, the first purchase I make once my toy arrives is Left 4 Dead. But then I have a thing for zombies, so YMMV

I've been playing Battlefield 2142 for almost two years now. Definitely my favorite.

For FPS I think I might be a bit old school. I have played Doom3 and Far Cry many many times and it just doesnt get old to me. I also return to Diablo, Diablo2+expac and the Unreal series over and over. As some others have said, these are not online (though you CAN play Diablo2exp on battle.net though i never have.

First thing I have planed for my new machine when I get it is installing Far Cry 2 and Crysis. I have been waiting since those games came out to afford a computer that will run those...period. (meaning this one I'm typing on coughs up blood when I try to run Half Life 2 ep. 1)
